As a self confessed astrophotography addict , I'm constantly in pursuit of the perfect dark sky locations. I recently embarked on a breathtaking journey to Parque Nacional del Teide in Tenerife with my new best friend: the ultimate tripod for adventure photography, made especially for me by Kingjoy UK!
When discussing my tripod requirements with Kingjoy, I expressed that I was looking for something light weight and suitable for backpacking, as I can at times be hiking for long distances with all my kit. It would also need to be sturdy enough for long exposures and as an added bonus have a levelling bubble built in. So let me take you on a visual and narrative journey through my cosmic night time experience!
Unveiling the Ultimate Tripod
Allow me to introduce you to my latest companion in capturing stellar moments - my state-of-the-art tripod designed to accompany me on my wildest night time adventures. The first thing I always do when receiving a new tripod, is decorate it with glow in the dark tape! This makes its much easier for me to spot my tripod at night after I have wondered away from it. It's incredibly important for my tripod to be sturdy, as when shooting at night I am using long exposures. It only weights 1.25kg and it's lightweight design is made from carbon fiber, but it doesn't compromise on stability. The build upheld its promises during my night time explorations of the captivating landscapes of Tenerife, even when I had my camera and lens mounted onto a star tracker.
The twist lock legs are easy to use in the dark, as there is no faffing about trying to undo flip locks. There is also a handgrip to assist in cold weather. I'm hoping that when I visit colder climates, they will be perfect to use with my gloves on. (However, I have been known to lose my gloves in -24 temperatures and struggle to put down my frozen solid tripod!) only time will tell....
Some of my tripods have had issues before when sand gets into the joints of the legs making it a struggle to open and close, but I am relived to say the dust and sand resistant leg sleeves stood up to the mark in the dry and arid landscapes of Tenerife.
The Tripod Continues it journey
I have in recent times been experimenting and expanding my night time portfolio, by introducing multi frame milky way panoramas. If you're planning any kind of panning movement, you need the tripod base to be level, and not just the camera! (as I kept finding out the hard way!) So I was absolutely delighted that my new added feature of having a leveling bubble built into the tripod base was at my fingertips. It was time to put it to the test. There's always the fear of the unknown when shooting a multi frame panorama... you have no idea whether all your frames will stitch together in post processing, and you hope you managed to capture enough frames. To my absolute delight, after hours of stitching and processing, I have managed to produce this... (thank you levelling bubble!!)
The Verdict
In conclusion, my Kingjoy tripod that was built for adventure photography can be summed up in one word: indispensable. Its durability, weight and the must have leveling bubble have elevated my photography experience to unparalleled heights, allowing me to capture moments that transcend time and space with clarity and precision.
As I continue my photographic journey across the globe, this tripod will remain my trusty companion, ready to help me unlock the hidden night time beauty of each destination. Stay tuned for more adventures and unforgettable moments captured 📸🌍
